Du Mont didn't die until 1956. Copyright in written works in most places in the world lasts for some number of years after the author's death. In many places, this is seventy years so the book won't be out of copyright there until 2026.

No, he said that ``some of the former books'' were from the 1940s/50s, i.e., some of the endgame and strategy books, not some of the Kasparov books.
