Perhaps you should start a new thread in help and support? That way, people can easily find your post and say whether they've had any problems with their setup. (I've not had any with Firefox 1.0.7 or 2.0.0.6 under XP Pro. Man, they need more zeroes.)
The private disagreement was between the original poster and his opponent as to whether the opponent should resign what sounds like an obviously lost position.

First - There should be an etiquette committe. They could post house expectations regarding resigning.
We would all benifit from a small symbol by a players name indicating his philosophy on resigning. Players would choose the symbol they thought fit their philosophy. If opponents thought they failed to live up to their symbol then one could petition to have the proper symbol imposed. This would permit Kirkland to avoid players that dont resign. I value strong competition if someone 400 points higher than me doesnt resign I would risk a long drawn out easy endgame given the probability that a stronger opponent is likely to give me a free lesson.

@doran there is no long drawn endgame here... it is completely lost endgame ... and there is big difference between the two. I myself got so irritated by my opponents (on FICS, not in correspondence) few times, that I've asked tham "ever thought of resigning? ". I got some people on no play list because they played against me with only king against rook or queen, untill they got mated. I find it very rude to play out game till the end if you have no counterplay.
