I'm a player from Germany and my game strength is between 1500 and 1600; could anybody recommend me any good chessbooks for training and amelioration ?

I myself learned a lot from these 2 books; "Manual of Chess" by Emanuel Lasker and "Complete manual for the game of chess" by Dr.Max Euwe Both are not very updated with modern openings, but on the other site very complete. (openings, combinations, position play, all different types of endgames etc.). For average chessplayers like us, a good start. I know also that these books are also available in the german language.
