Hi everyone,
I don't know how if this can be posted in this forum but I hope the members and the admin can let me speak about boycotting the gameknot chess website.
Before i joined queenalice, I was a member of gameknot.com (since it tops the online chess search in the internet) and was enjoying playing there for some time even with number of game restrictions. However, i made an honest mistake of letting my friend join the website in the same computer as mine. And guess what, gameknot readily assumed that I was using two accounts (its forbidden in gameknot) in their site. Worse, they disabled my account without even giving me notification. I tried to plead my case for 2 months now (5 mails to the admin) but no response. I think they even disabled my forum capabilities and I can't join any games anymore even if I am entitled to 12 games. I also escalated this issue and tried to get help from a club leader in gameknot and he was also ignored.
And here comes the worst part, gameknot is sending me a message everytime i try to join games that i have more than 2 accounts (same person) and I should register before I can join more games. I was infuriated by this dirty tactic of forcing its non-paying members to register and pay a minimum of $29 for a year. But do you think a customer would be willing to join the gameknot website if it cannot even offer a response or at least respect its members?
I do hope you can pass this to any of gameknot users and let it be known to them that the administrator of that website is only after the money from its members and not customer satisfaction.
i apologize for venting my view on this matter in this website but I do hope you all understand.

As for your Gameknot problems, I have informed
my Chess mentor. He was thinking about playing there.
Now he will do more investigating.
Thank you for bring this to our attention.
And, thankyou QueenAlice/Miguel for allowing a
new member to inform us of his problems. While
we have only heard one side, anyone may now
check into it to see how Gameknot response.
My problem concerns the usage of Gameknot's
tracking of your IP address. I, and several
other members that I play with, use public libraries
in the US of A for transmission our
moves. Evidently this will restrict me and
my friends at Gameknot.
When my schedule allows, alib2004, you and I
will play some Chess if you like. I play
only Black. If you wish to play White, my first move is 1 a3.

Like mike said, why play anywhere else? As far as i am concerned this site is the only needed resorce for my online chess.
Oh and your new? I thought u were the second most active player here? I guess e2cp knows something i don't.
Anyway, take it easy and i hope to play another game with u soon. I am coming for revenge this time .

I'm not really new to this site but I just wanted to post this thread so everyone will know my bad experience with other chess websites and wny queenalice is the best chess website right now...

A friend of mine has registered to play at
Gameknot. Remember when you registered, it
asked who referred you: she put you down!!
Will let you know when she starts playing
any games there.
