Can anyone help? I am reading the Seirawan series and I find the information I am reading just seems to go straight out of my head when it comes to playing, is there anyway to improve my memory retention? ps. I'm 29 and I've been playing for 3 years

Which of the series are you finding most difficulty with?

Its not the books that I find hard, it is retaining the information and applying it to my game that I am having trouble with.

But do you mean applying the tactics you've learnt, or the end game patterns or strategic ideas; or is it the Barcza/KID/Pirc openings he reccommends?

Just trying to narrow it down. Or is it all the info in his books that you find difficult to apply to your games? :-D

You can take the games and/or openings he suggests, and put them into BookUp, and use that program to test yourself. It's available at www.bookup.com, and there is a free download.
