I'm very excited to announce the first site wide tournament. The tournament is divided into two categories, one for beginner and intermediate players and another one for advanced players.
The tournament starts on Sep, 15th and uses a double Round Robin schedule. Each group will have 4 or less players, so you will get a maximum of 6 simultaneous games from this tournament. Also note the games will all use 3 days/move as time controls. More details will be added to the About page soon.
You can sign-up at any time before the start date by visiting the Tournaments page. Note that you need to have a rating to participate, so unrated players will have to complete their first game to be able to enter.
Being this the first tournament I expect minor issues to appear. Please bear with me on this, if you notice anything wrong please let me know and I'll try to make it right asap.
And before the question is asked, yes, it will be possible in the future for members to create their own tournaments and invite their friends, but first I want to make sure everything is working and it would be very difficult for me to keep things under control if a lot of tournaments are created.
Enjoy!

Do any of you who signed up for the tournament and are rated under 1600 would like to play in the advanced players category instead?
If you are rated below 1600 but like to be in the advanced tournament let me know. There are only 7 players who signed up on this category, and I'm thinking a few more players will make the tournament more interesting.
Thanks.

Can I be in both?
If not you can move me over to the higher one. Just ask them to be gentle.

I have no problem letting people participate in both tournaments, but make sure you can handle that number of games (which in this case will be a maximum of 12 if you play both tournaments).
I removed the rating restrictions on the advanced tournament, so all who want to play there can now sign up.
