Why not just download the free program ChessPad (Google it). You can add notes and all symbols to the moves then copy and paste them as either pgn, plain text, RTF or HTML.

Thanks to Ollie as well. You must remember that I didn't play for 18 years which meant that large portions of Chess IT passed me by and ... secondly ... that as I'm a humanities person (e.g. I recently finished the first draft of a musical) I'm much more comfortable with a word processor! :-(O)
