I have a hopeless position in a few games, but I wont resign. I want to join an elite tournament. I recently passed 2200 for the first time. My raing is 2208. I cant register for an elite tournament becuase I have 54 games in progress. So I'm trying to stall in a few games that I am losing so I can finish 5 games that I will win and enter an elite tournament. Once I have registered it will be ok if my rating dips below 2200. Not only is the 50 game rule wasteing my opponents time but it might also delay the next round. I dont feel guilty. I have done all that I can do to get the 50 game rule repealed.
Notice that I said the rule is wasting their time. Not hat I amwasting their time.

I agree. Some players enjoy more than 50 games. Why not let them manage their own games?
My position is that I am well over 50 games and am hoping to reduce down below 50 in time to join the annual QA tournament. Otherwise I will miss it.

I think there has to be a few ground rules for this. Firstly I think that until you have played your 25 games and become officially ranked you should be limited to the amount of games you can play. You don't want people coming in and joining a bunch of games only to find that they become disinterested and dissappear.
Perhaps something like this could be suggested:
1-25 games : 50 game limit
26-50 games : 100 game limit
51+ games : no limit

Sounds good to me. perhaps someone can post to indicate why the 50 game limit was initiated. Maybe there can still be a cap but maybe it could be more-like 100 or 200 games.

I know it's frustrating when you want to get into a tourney.
However, there is good reason for the limit, I think.
There are plenty here already taking full time to move.
I've seen on other sites where many players with
200+ game only move the ones that are coming due.
I'd be more in favour of an increase if there were 1 day/move tournaments.
At 7 days/move, it would make things excruciatingly slow.

The 50 game rule was provoked by IKEBROLOVESKI who would enter many tournaments and resign all games against 1900+ opponents immediately. you can find commments bout the 50 game rule in these forums. I wish we could do something to modify it.
