I wish I was at that level. At my level it is more like: 1) Avoid blundering 2) Correctly identify an opponents mistake before making my own 3) Correctly exploit opponents mistake 4) Avoid blundering an advantage.
Not exactly GM advice, but some days I struggle to get past step 1

I wish I could do the ff: 1)Control the center 2)Place the knight or bishop in the ideal position 3)Control open columns 4)Place your rook(s) on the 7th rank 6)Castle early 7)Control the diagonals 8)Avoid isolated pawns

I use a "simple method" 1) Control the game. 2) Attack all the time! 3) Break all the opponent defense. 4) Never give a chance to the opponent control the game.
Sometimes the opponent invert the game and the problem starts. :)

GM Alex Yermolinsky called 2300-rated masters “tomato cans” who have a limited understanding of chess, so what can the rest of us rating challenged folks do except just blunder on?
Most of the time my choice is determined by the following 2-step procedure: 1.What’s the first move that pops into my head? 2.Does it lose a piece? A.Not that I can see…play it. B.Yes…go back to Step 1

You are missing a lot. Chess is not just pawns even though they are half the pieces.
