I not sure what is meant be "maybe because you have a minor variant to study"
but the word maybe implies it is wrong. Black is definitely better in this position.

Anyone over 1800 FIDE would prefer Black or White if they are playing against me.....

Black has to know all the openings which begin with
1.e4 and 1.d4 and 1.c4 and ...
But the white player only has to know his opening
for example 1.e4
