Okay, I don't understand. On Yahoo chess, I used to be rated at 1650. Recently, after studying a lot, playing a lot, etc, I started playing again. My rating has plummeted to the lower 1400's. My games here are fine, and my rating is decent (getting better all the time). I need to figure out why I am sucking it up out there.... Anyone who has played me, please point out any misconceptions I seem to have about chess please.... thanks all

Yahoo is reputed the worst site for engine abuse. But I wouldn't know. I've only played a few games there. Too much hassle to save the games, as they don't use PGN.

Play at FICS. Much better server more features and I save my game in pgn format.

In my opinion, the best rating on the web is given by the servor playchess. Of course this place is not free but you can download an interface ( http://playchess.com ) and play during one month without paying. It will be enough to get an idea of your rating
