I agree: using an engine may not guarantee success. But the point is that more and more analysis time used by the "best" engine (Rybka!?), on the "best" hardware (I don't know what may be....) will guarantee more and more possibility of success in spite of almost any good human-chess skill. In my opinion this is the situation in tournaments of medium-high level and the engine assistance relevance increases with higher levels. This doesn't mean that GMs are "only" engines but means that if you want to go on, you have to buy fewer chess books but a very very good hardware (probably every 2 years) and install the "best" chess program.

I do play in other 6 chess sites and do always met players who cheat. A 1500 something can't see mate in 5, though it happens. Anyhow cheating is for loosers, tehy wont develop their skills playing that way, and will experience real nightmares when playing otb.

What makes you think they play OTB?
People don't necessarily play in OTB you know.
