Why not have tournaments where a particular opening

Of course! I will have the theme tournaments ready in a couple of days. I'm thinking in creating 4 player/single round tournaments with the more requested positions so post your request!

Endgame tournaments that's silly chessmate

Well, considering that these games will not be rated, there is nothing to lose and you will focus on practicing endgames.

One suggestion... What are the boundaries of this website? Are we interested in solving endgames, chess problems, or something of that nature?

Discussing an endgame can be very fascinating but doing it in a non-rated match format?

I think instead that having a chessboard where we can throw pieces at each other, draw lines, arrows, etc. in an open forum to illustrate a point (á lá ICC) can be more constructive.

In short studying endgames in a manner of a match is not the way to go.

I also visit a website that has more endgames than I can handle and that I visit from time to time. This is about a competition to solve endgames by Brian Gosling (I don't know if it still updated...)

It is very thorough and I recommend it wholeheartedly. Instead of doing thematic endgames why not posting an endgame at queenalice.com start page and we all try to solve to its minutest consequences? These discussions could then be posted at the forum...

Thematic games are an entirely different matter and should be rated if the opponents so desire it... Furthermore, thematic tournaments should be rated! These are important things and it is great to have them around.

Fischer random and other variants of chess don't interest me so I can't opine objectively about them...

The players should have the option to make the games rated. Otherwise there was no point in you even adding the feature. They are legal starting positions and deserve to be rated like any other game. No other site offering this feature makes them unrated and not give an option to rate.

Has anyone tried starting a game from a FEN position? I can't seem to get it to work. Thanks!

My fault :-D

I make changes to the site from two different locations, and sometimes I forget to update my files when I got from one to another.

Sorry about that.
