It is unique to the other cc sites around...usually you have to start all over in the analyze mode if you found a better move in between your original thought.

It would be nice to have a "double-arrow" button, to go to the first and last move of a variation...

I like the "Think-mode" a lot as well and I use it a lot.
I've got the impression that the pieces are somewhat "hard to grasp" with my mouse, I usually have to click carefully in order to make it work, is that possible or is it just me?

It happens with me too... It looks like you cannot move a pixel with the mouse while clicking, or else it do not pick the piece... I am not sure if this is the problem, but it is difficult to pick, yes.

I have no trouble. It works the same as in the games: click on the piece/square you want to move from and then click on the square you want the piece to move to. I hope you are not tring to drag and drop the pieces. That doesn't work.
