Although I experiment a lot these days, on e4 I often play Petrov's defense. Here take a look at this link: http://chess.about.com/library/openings/bloc4200.htm

I play the Pirc, Nimzovich, and Alekhine Defences.

Hi Everyone!
I play the very unusual but still good 1.e4 Nc6, the Nimzovich Defence. My database has it scoring 46% just 1% behind the Sicilian! Many positions are like the French Defence except the Black Bc8 is developed actively to f5. Other times, when White chooses 2.Nf3 play is similar to the classical Pirc. :-)
Of those mentioned above the Owens is a good try. Play is fairly easy for black and it is a lively game. Recently though I have discovered that playing Ne2 rather than Nf3, intending the follow up f4-f5, poses many problems for Black.
Incidentally I am attempting to write a book about the "NOD" = Nimzovich's Other Defence = 1.e4 Nc6
Good luck!
