Way to go centroid! As a programmer I completely agree, since I've done a couple of 'live tests' on a 100-people company (needless to say, they didn't like it very much , but it was required). These things never work out right in one go, I'm sure miguel is doing his best, and that's what matters!
Also, I'm not sure why people complain about e.g. 2250 rating going down to 1892.. Would you rather have an approx. "real" rating or an extremely huge and fake rating?? If latter, why not open you own site and write a sentence "My chess rating is 4120."?? I'd rather have my rating as low as 1000 if it's more closer to reality than 3000 and play chess like a 3-year-old.. I want to earn my rating, no matter how high or low it is.

Wow that does explain alot I took a long leave and thought my rating dropped because of how many games I lost due to inactivity

Periodic ratings adjustments will be necessary, as "protected ratings", while laudible perhaps, ensures a continual inflation.
Someone should tell hardattack123 to come back. He still owes us more rating points.

I am lucky that ratings don't really matter to me. The only thing that matters to me is an interesting game of chess and the feeling that I am getting better. There are so many chess sites out there that I can go to anyone of them and challenge a player of a particular rating if I feel the need to, or play at a tournament at my local chess club. Either way, it doesn't matter what my rating is as long as I am having a blast! (No disrespect to those who like to earn there rating, just wanted you guys to know that there are some of us who are not going bonkers about ratings.)
