I am always interested on what kind of playing styles our famous grandmasters have. I know that Kasparov always want to be the aggressor and he is very tactical, more like Alekhine... In contrast, Karpov is more like Capablanca. Of course we can get these information by playing through their games but there are tons of it, and I don't want to go through the hassle.
Do you know a website which describe player profiles/styles?
Or better yet, can you describe how your favorite master play?

My favorite player is Fischer. I belong to the 70s-80s chess era where his swashbuckling, aggressive style dominated the chess scene. So it's common for aspiring players to idolize him or the equally-aggressive Mikhail Tal.
Often overlooked though is the contrasting style of Tigran Petrosian from an earlier generation. For me, he is a master of the "cramped" position. His play is characterized by seemingly passive moves, inviting his opponent to attack with reckless abandon, then deftly maneuvering his pieces to thwart off the attack. This often gives him the chance to launch a vicious counterattack to win the game.
This style isn't popular coz it often leads to ugly-looking games. But studying his games is valuable in honing one's defensive skills.

What are the styles of the current world leaders, such as Topalov, Kramnik and Anand?

yeah, certainly be intersting to know...
and we can only see the games on the board from tons and tons of archives, but we don't see how players behave during the match itself... like do they trash talk the other guy, or make disturbing gestures to keep you off from the board etc.... basically how their psychology and personality shows while playing face to face.
hmm. very interseting...

i have read an article of Anand's interview( i don't remember the site), he commented on the palying styles of kasparov, Karpov, Topalow.. he says, Kasparaov always prepares a line/novelty in tournaments, Karpow always plays for a drwa but if he sees his advantage he go for the win and Topalov is a very agressive player over the board..
