Hello all,
The server now classifies all games by their openings. You will see the opening classification in the title bar right under the game name.
I'm using the ECOMast database for the classification, which contains 3000+ openings sorted by ECO code and variation name.
I hope you find this information useful. There will be more opening related features coming up soon!

This is very cool! I am not sure how will it handle transpositions and I am willing to work on a unrated game to test it...

The system should handle transpositions, the searches are done by board position, not by sequence of moves. The Opening Browser should also allow you to navigate through transpositions, although the variants counts may not include them all, computing the count including all transpositions is kind of expensive.
I'm eager to hear what people think about the usefulness of these features.

Me ha gustado esto del navegador de aperturas, Miguel. Pienso que nos puede enseñar a jugar mejor y a no cometer errores que antes grandes maestros han corregido (por aquello de que en ajedrez gana quien comete el penúltimo error ).
I like ther browser, Miguel . I think whith it we can learn to play better, and no falling in mistakes ,and to play how great teachers in chess (People says: In chess win who to make penultimate mistake)

should... but it doesn't. See my game against catalonian:
1. e4 c5 2. Nc3 g6 (so far a closed Sicilian) 3. Nf3 Nc6 4. d4 cxd4 (but not anymore... this is now a garden variety Sicilian) 5. Nxd4 Bg7 6. Be3 (more specifically an accelerated dragon...)
And here is another one:
1. e4 c5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3. Nf3 e6 4. d4 cxd4 5. Nxd4 Nf6 6. Ndb5 d6 7. Bf4 e5 8. Bg5 *
The system calls it a Taimanov-Sveshnikov... I disagree: Despite the fact that it was a rather convoluted route, this is a Sveshnikov no matter that the normal Sveshnikov move order reaches the same position on move 7.
