Internet is a goldmine for chess..there are thousand of sites about this beautiful sport. About playing chess sites i love queenalice (of course!) and FICS (www.freechess.org).
Then i recommend these good sites about chess material: chessbase.com, chesscafe.com, chessville.com, chessup.net.....there are many other but can't remember now!

ChessVille offers great instructional material.
What chess forums do you recommend? I tried ChessExchange, but they don't like Gmail users. I tried signing up with Sify Mail, and I was banned for no reason.
