Hi, Miguel, just one more to your ever longer "To Do" or "Who knows one day when I have time for it" List.
Just wondering if it would be a good idea to have more types of tournaments, like by age range for example, and not only by ´proficiency´ groups, like Beginners, Intermediate etc...
I Just thought of it today when I realized the increasing number of kids coming to play here, many at the age of 10. Wouldn't be nice for them to have an automatic tournament for their age?
Miguel could create a "Kids Corner" with tournaments like "Up to 12 years old" and maybe a "Teens Corner" costumized for people between 13 and 19.
It would be much easier for them to make new friends and play some people tall like them sometimes. Of course they can keep playing harder tournaments for their improvement if they wish.
If the site had a way to search the member list by age, the kids themselves could create their private tournaments but it would be much better if the site provided it.
A sad but important issue (at least for the parents concern) with this "Kids Corner", would be Miguel having a Moderator, or Chaperon maybe, to track conversations during the games or personal messages, just to make sure the site is clean of Predators, or at least make the messages open to the Public during the game...
And how about a "Seniors Smoking Hut Corner" hamm?

If such tournaments are introduced, I'd participate, to play with other teens and befriend them.
Some may lie about their age, though.
I hope Miguel implements teams first.

I don't see this as a need, because of the rating-groups system. If a kid or teen has a great rating, I believe he's ok to play against adults in tournaments. If he hasn't, he'll play also adults who are at the same level than he is.
Also, I agree with whitekings about people lying about their age.

What I mean, Andrea, is that the rating world is a cold, cold one. Not everybody is here just because of playing chess or playing better but as a way to meet new friends. You're thinking only in terms of competition.

I support the idea. It is nice to group people in other ways than just rating, rating, rating... Argh!

Other than the minor concern of people lying about their age, I support this idea, and would participate in such tournaments if they were introduced, because I would like to befriend other teens so we can learn from each other.
However, as I said, I would prefer Miguel to implement teams first. From a programming perspective, teams and tournaments would be the foundation on which the above suggestion is built.
