If you don't want to have to become good at major piece endgames, trading off the queens sounds like an excellent plan to me. Did you mean to say something else?

I've studied the Bc4 lines and I still have difficulty with it. Unfortunately queen trades happen easily with non-symmetrical games but I havent found a satisfactory alternative to the hypermoderns that does not involve wood pushing

I meant avoid trading queens because I'm profficient in major piece endings :D

I might stop using the modern. I lose most of my games against opponents of similiar strength when my opponent secures a pawn on e4. I also have trouble with the positions where white captures on f6. However I intend to review several master games and have a master review a few of my games. If i I can master the modern than my oppenings are set and I can focus on the endgame.
I think amatures playing the modern should offer an early trade of queens. 1.d4 g6 2.c4 Bg7 3. e4 d6 4. Nc3 e5 5. de de 6. qxd8 kxd8 this postion is roughly equal but since 5% of my games start like this I have more experiance with this than my amature opponent. Also the endgame experiance will help in all my games. I dont worry that it is drawish becuase less than 3 percent of my games end in a draw. Players of my strength just cant play a whole game without making mistakes. The vast majority of draws between amatures are agreed upon before it is obvious to both players how to hold the draw.
