I have been looking at this puzzle 3 times..and suddenly I saw the crossroad move: A/ 1.Re3..Rxe3 2.Qxf4+ mate..B/ 1.Re3 Bxe3 2.Nxf3+ mate. C/ 1.Re3 fxe3 2.Bh2+ mate. D/ 1.Re3 Rf7 2.Rxe6+ mate. E/ 1.Re3 Bf7 2.Qg7+ mate. This is the most important lines. But as I see the move 1.Re3 forces mate next move..

What about Re1xc1

Gambitshark, razoman
1.Re3 Rf7 ( if 1.Re3 , I believe that Rf7 does not allow mate in the next move ... )
1.Rxc1 ( if 1... g5, 1... Nf6 or 1... Bf7 also does not allow mate in 2 moves ... )
