Hi there! Can anyone tell me something about a chess-player named "J. de Moura"? He (?) played in 1951 a zonal but I can't find any information about him, neither his Christian name nor his nationality, nor his rating, nor his ...

I don't know anything about him, either, but I will point out that FIDE didn't introduce ratings until the late 1960s. (I have 1968 in my mind but don't take that as authoritative!)

Yes right, Gambitshark, thanks for your hint. Following it, now I managed to update some informations about me.
Well, Gil, I don't think, Mr. J. de Moura came from Brazil because it was a zonal played in Bad Pyrmont, Germany, 1951. But he could be a Portuguese, indeed.
Anything more about that mystery man ...?

Alright, just found out that the guy worked at the building as a janitor when the organizers got badly in need of someone to complete the pairings, so...opportunity knocks and Joao Moura got his 15 minutes of fame and he wasn't that bad! Check it out at www.anonymousheroes.com !
