maybe /:-( would have efficently communicated my annoyance with the comment dont start a tournament that you dont intend to finish.

Gil - Thankyou. you reply is helpful. I have learned from "announcements" that I lose on time I wont be paired for the next round. If I win I want to continue. I am eager to win a tournament here. If my game becomes hopeless I can fail to move and I will be withdrawn from the event. So far none of my games have resulted in my time expiring. I believe that there is honor in completing over 100 games and no loses due to time. (Plenty of loses due to playing better opponents :-D I hope to add you to that list ?:-( ) I request feedback on the issue of honor in avoiding time forfiets. I'll post that in "discussions."

I think the option of withdrawing would be a good feature to add to the site.

The point of a swiss tournament is to get to play all the rounds, eventually getting paired with even quality competition due to pairing based on points. To withdraw everytime you lost one game would be dishonorable. The regular tournaments only advance the winners, those are set just for that.

I suppose if you did it just this time because you didn't like the swiss, it wouldn't be a big deal. But to join them regularly and then lose on time to get out as soon as first place is out of reach would definitely be dishonorable.

Doran,
I think nobody gave you a clear answer, except for Gil,who made clear that the tournament director has no more influence on the games, once the tournament has started.
The only way to get out of that tournament is not making a move in your second game, and lose on time-out. Then you won,t be lined up for the third round.
Of course you lose the game and rating points though.
