The `About This Site' page says,

Players with established ratings will have their ratings protected when playing against unrated or provisional players. A protected rating can remain the same or go up, but never go down, even when the player loses the game.

This is not actually the case. Suppose A plays B, who has a provisional rating but has completed 25 games (could that bug/misdescription be fixed, please?). Once this game is over, B's rating will no longer be provisional but, all the way through the game, A is told that B's rating is provisional (because, of course, it is provisional at that stage). However, if B wins the game, B's rating becomes established and then the rating calculation is done. Hence, A's rating goes down, even though his opponent was provisionally rated throughout the game and A had good reason to believe his rating was protected.
