That is correct Gil, when he changed parties in 1990 I also wrote: So far so good!
My point was, what happened afterwards.
And why he needs to involve in Russian politics?
Azerbaijan is independent now, and Armenia (country of his mother)as well?

And Richerby, whe are talking about today, not the past! The past of the Western world, as well Europe, asw well the U.S. was not that clean also.

I also want to make very clear, that my statement is concerning only the person Gary Kasparov,
and his behaviour throughout the years,
not a support to the Russian politics.

Exactly. Kasparov was arrested because he was taking part in a demonstration that had not been permitted by the state.

In my country, the Netherlands, one of the oldest democratic countries in the world, you need a permit for demonstrations and politcal manifestations as well. If it is a HOT item, the riot police is stand-by as well.
I.m quit sure it is the same in the U.K.

Since 2005, permission from the police is required to demonstrate within half a mile of the parliament. My understanding is that permission is not required anywhere else and the law requiring permission close to parliament is under review. Obviously, the riot police will be on standby if there's any expectation that a demonstration might turn violent.
