Ah, the moral of this tale is do not mess with things you do not understand properly.
I was checking out the vacation page, as I was thinking I will probably need to use it sometime. Stupidly I didn't realise it was instant (I do now  ), so question is should I ignore it, continue to play as normal and tell my opponents to ignore it (I can live without the time I requested), or ask Miguel to add a calender function onto his huge list of improvements, so that we can schedule vacations in advance?

The calendar idea crossed my mind too. I was also thinking in adding a 'cancel vacation' option, though I don't see these as a high priority as many of the other enhancements you will see on the site soon.
I reset your vacation status, so you have the whole 30 day vacation period available again, and you do not appear as 'on vacation' anymore.
The only drawback about staying in vacation mode is that you will not receive any challenges from other members, but you can continue to make moves. I imagined that most people go out on vacation not knowing if they will have a chance to go online so I tried to made the vacation feature as flexible as possible.

I think the 'cancel vacation' option would be very handy! Thank you for your understanding and I promise not to foolishly press buttons in future.
