Hi Miguel, can you please tell us if the server is your property and how often the game data are backed up?
I play also on another (American) server. They don't own a server. A few days ago there was some sort of crash and all data of the last 2 months (!!) have been lost. Admins say, they can't restore that data.
I hope, this won't happen to Queen Alice!
Greetings Peter

I think you play at the same site as I do. Finished games started suddenly again, games won turned into losses on time-out. etc. They are even deleting all the teams, as the new set-up starts.
A Nightmare for the owner...
...and for all the players and teams as well.

It's really a shame on that site! Keeping history data of the matches consumes very little disk space (less than 1 KByte per game, certainly). One single CD would be able to back up all the site's matches.

This site runs on a dedicated server, of which I have full control.
A full backup of the database is done once per week, and incremental back ups are done on the other 6 days. The backups are sent to another server as soon as they are completed. On this other server I keep backups for 30 days.
Worst case is that up to 24 hours of game data will be lost, but never more than that.
At some point I would like to invest on a second dedicated server and implement database mirroring, so backups are pretty much immediate and there is absolutely no risk of data loss. But I need the site to generate a little bit of revenue for that...

Maybe we should do some advertising for Queen Alice on that site, in that mess at the moment, nobody will notice!
But seriously Miguel, We`ve got all faith in you! As you say yourself, "I am a much better programmer then I am a chessplayer" Overthere it is the way around, the owner is a Grandmaster, but is a lousy programmer!
