I am actually playing somebody (a 10days/all)whose time controls showed 8d12hrs last night. Overnight he got a time plus of 24 hrs so his time is this morning 9h14. How come - is there any rule saying that you can give yourself more time, was it the admin or the server or what? Or did I simply overlook something? I wouldn't care if those were other time controls. Just curious

That's really great, now the time on his other clock (2nd game) slipped to 9h14 as well. Last night too he had something like 8h12. Was it that he is on vacation now? But I don't have a clue what's vacation got to do with it.

If you're talking about your games against Amadeus, he's on vacation for a day. The beach ball by the game means that your opponent is on vacation.
Vacation time is added to the time on the clock so you don't need to move while you're away.

(The beach ball isn't visible in the `My Games' list when it's your move. But it's always shown next to the player's name above or below the board.)

Thanks, I didn't know that vacation is added to the time on the clock.

Yep -- that's the only point of vacation.
