I just finished playing by second game ever -- my opponent lost by time -- and even though my opponent was not provisional and was high-rated (2029, my opponent is mbubi), my rating went from 1500p to 1500p (no change). My first game was against some 1400 and I went from unrated to 1500p (i.e., there in effect was a change this time).

what happened there? shouldn't my rating have gone way up? what should I do to solve this problem?

thanks a lot

To solve this question/problem, you should read "About this site", which stands that you won't gain rating points if you're a provisional player and your opponent is rated 400(+/-) points than you:

wow..... first time I see that kind of rule, that's.... dumb, isn't it?

oh well, that solves the matter though, thanks for your very good and very quick response, it's appreciated :)

As I recall, it was done because playing against provs doesn't lose points, so provs were getting their high ranked mates to lose to them to climb up high quickly.
