How about a simple feedback mechanism after a game is over.
Positive Neutral Negative
That way, when there's a challenge from a player with a lot of negative feedbacks. Can just decline his/her challenge.

Yeah but think about it what if someone has an ax to grind he lost a game or is a poor sport and he gives the opponent a bad rating unfairly it can send the wrong message to other Players.
This has the potential to be abused.

I agree with Rohan completely. I've played on other websites with a rating system and it turns out to be a "war of words" over the "subjective" rating given by another person.
I like to just play the game (win or lose) and move on to the next. If you personally don't want to play someone then don't. If you like to play certain people as I do -- then add them to your buddy list.
