Well, Muggs, you sure there couldn't be something with the latest release?
It doesn't matter how long you have used a browser in the past - if a new version doesn't work right and you have done nothing else to your computer but update the browser you have been using then you either got a bad install or the update has changed something to cause the problem you are having.
Are threats of attack to your computer keeping you away from using IE 6.0 or FireFox? IE 6.0 works very well. However, I do use ZoneAlarm Security Suite for firewall, anti-virus and spyware protection to make sure I'm safe from hackers. More than you wanted to know, I'm sure...

It's unfortunate that Internet Explorer might be the first choice of browser, but Miguel's "obligation" is understandable. IE is still the most popular - despite being arguably the least safe - and he must ensure the site functions well for this majority. However, those who switch from IE to a more secure browser will probably not need to worry half as much about running anti-spyware programs and the like.
Anyway, I'm using Netscape (Navigator) and seem to have experienced some page-loading problems at Queen Alice, coincidentally, only since the switch to the new server a short while ago.

Onceupon: Unfortunate that Internet Explorer is the first choice?!
Whatever the name of the browser, one would be the first choice and that choice would also be the first choice of hackers because they want to reach the masses. All browsers have security holes. Avoiding one for another, in the long run, only offers one a false sense of security.
IMO, all computer users should proactively protect their computer regardless of which browser they use. What that means is a good solid secure firewall with good anti-virus and spyware programs. Do most computer users run such software? NO.

Just so you all know, my browser of choice is Firefox, this is what I use to develop the site. According to site statistics Firefox is used by 9% of the members of this site, while IE is used by about 85%.
Of course I test IE often and from time to time also try other browsers like Opera and Safari on Mac.

All browsers have security holes. |
Potentially, yes. But, characteristically, it's Microsoft who do very little about them. And remember, it's also Microsoft who have refused to comply with browser standards.
IMO, all computer users should proactively protect their computer... |
I doubt this would apply to Linux or Mac' users.
