I might have been mis-understood. It is not rude to never send an opponent a reminder, and claim time forfiet without any warning. However, I think send a move reminder is kind.

I would like to see a maximum on the number of vacation days during a game. I run all moves in 10 days tournaments. The possibility of one player being able to use 89 vacation days and his opponent zero creates an imabalance.

One reason to send a move reminder is to provoke your opponent to move. I want to play as many auto open tournaments as possible. Sending move reminders might prevent my opponent from an early time expired loss, thus prolonging the game. However, it might provoke him to average 3 days a move instead of 6. I wonder will sending move reminders increase or decrease how many weeks my average game needs.
