I suppose we didn't really but yes, it is very possible. Having a program monitor chess board pages, reading the FEN-like code in the page source, to know when it's time to move is very simple. If fact you would not use a standard browser and some API, but actually have the browser source code implemented within your software. That along with a port to a commercial chess engine and you have the process pretty much complete. I really don't think you would have to be better than an intermediate level programmer as much of the code would be available online for free. Then that person can distribute their cheat software (very common) to anybody to use. A program of this nature is rudimentary compared to an online first person shooter cheat program (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0ZC7KRkW5Q)

You have to remember that playing internet chess is like playing an Over The Board game against an opponent wearing a burka - you could be playing anyone ranging from Nelson Mandela to Silvio Berlusconi,(although I'm told he is more into strip poker). In other words, it pays to know your adversary, so do as much research into someone's archives as you can, especially the number of times that the usual suspects crop up in the same tounaments.
