1) Time at Queen Alice:

Today: 30-MAR-2011
Difference: 1622 days or 38928 hours

2) Global Numbers:

Played games: 4047
In progress: 38

3) Statistics:

Considering only the global numbers (a detailed and more exact analysis is impossible because I don't have all the numbers), we can say...

a) 9 hours and 36 minutes is the time spent by Bergman to complete a match or in 2 days Bergman complete 5 matches;

b) Considering a mean value of 15 moves in a match, Bergman makes 75 moves in 2 days or 37 moves/day.

And, there's no vacation, hollidays, Sunday or Saturday... Every day he has to make his moves.

4) Conclusion:

Bergman won many games by time. In a system like Queen Alice (correspondence chess) it's impossible to complete so many matches in few time.

I'm curious to see how many games Bergman won by time... Anybody have this number?

Cheers!

PS: Bergman loves play 1 day/move games. Why? :-D

I don't think there is anything significant in those numbers, rbivanov. We already know that Bergman is a fast player. His stats on the other site indicated that clearly. It is especially easy to play fast against very weak opponents. Compared to him that is anyone around 2200 and below.

As for 1 day/move games, I would like to play tournaments that way! Some of us don't like waiting a week for a move. He may win something like 5% of his matches on time but that has nothing to do with him. His opponent accepted that contract and then failed to deliver.

37 moves/day? That is nothing. Just by chance, as soon as I finish posting, I will make exactly 37 moves in about 15 minutes. Likely though, on average, I make 50 per day, but that simply depends on how slow my opponents are playing. >:-(

This is the point. The problem isn't Bergman's speed, but his opponents. Many players login only once or twice per day. Besides, there're different time zones around the world, making impossible the meeting of 2 players instantly.

I think that his numbers are higher than a system of correspondence chess, played by humans, could give in normal conditions.

Look at the mean time to complete a match: only 9 hours!!! When I'm lucky, I finish a match in this time... Bergman finished all his matches in this time during 5 years!!!

Maybe he's the luckiest man in the world!

LOL ... you are reading the numbers wrong! It generally does not matter how fast another player is playing in non-tournament games. Only how fast you play and how many games you have active. If your opponents take the full week to move, you pick up a couple hundred games to make sure you have as many moves per day as you like.

Look at my numbers. I'm about 11.8 hours per game AND I am restricted to 7 move/day games and around 50 games active (I only play tournaments). Without that restriction, I could easily half that number! From my perspective, Bergman plays slow!

By the way, it took 18 minutes. :-P

It makes sense. You keep your rythm of moves with too many games.

Well, you've convinced me. ;-)

Nevertheless, Bergman's numbers still have many moves. If the mean moves per match number increase to 30 moves/match, we have almost 70 moves/day... Every day! During 5 years... :-O

Best regards!

While you are it, can you compute my numbers too? Thanks
