I like ChessPublishing.com. They want you to pay to get most of what they have to offer, but they do have some good stuff for free. There are monographs on some openings. BTW, I have joined, so if someone else has, and has chosen different opening categories...interested in sharing? ;-)

on the other hand, the worst experience i had so far in online chess was gameknot.com. very bad customer service out there and the admin don't respond to non-paying members.

Try this freesite:http://www.jeremysilman.com it covers opening. middle game and endgames. Google Eric Schiller books in PDF format.It is free and in depth discussion of selected openings.
