If he is extremely fast he will need practically no time to catch the egg. However if he is exceptionally slow but has tremondous perserverence he will eventually catch the egg.
I think I might know the answer to the age old question, Which came first the chicken or the egg?" Eggs tend to be stationary. suppose an egg and a chicken were entered in a race. Your friend waited on the finish line until either the egg or the chicken crossed the finish line. If you ask your friend, most likely he will tell you the chicken came first.
