Yes, I remember old fashioned post card chess. I played a few such games against Samuel Reshevsky in the 80's. I would mail him a postcard in an envelope with my move on it and he wrote his reply on it and mailed it to me. Playing him cost $26 per game (I think). I never dragged out any of my lost games in passive-aggressive fashion, but resigned promptly when faced with imminent loss.
