I have never used this feature before and have a couple of questions. The SAVE NOTES button only appears when it's not my turn to make a move. Is it possible to save my notes when making a move, that is, writing them down and pushing the MOVE button? Are they deleted when the game is over? I'm assuming they're private because nobody else can view them, is that correct?

The notes are not deleted, you can delete them yourself when the game ends. And of course they are only for you, nobody else can see them.
