Correspondence chess isn't the same, both players know the rules and are on an even playing field from the start. Unless you agree before hand that using an engine is permitted then it's cheating, an unfair advantage. Everyone knows this otherwise you wouldn't use it. As long as both players agree it's fine but if you are not declaring then it's cheating.
