Hi, can someone explain to me how the rating system works? I just won a game in which my opponent has a rating of 1941. My rating went up, from 1692 → 1719. However, the rating of my opponent didn't change after he resigned. Is that correct? If so, which rule is in effect here? Of it's not correct, what happened and how can I appeal against this?

You have a provisional rating so your opponent cannot lose points against you. An odd rule - but there it is!
