Music is for the different generation. Of course the person likes the music of his/her generation like me. Do you agree? Which Music do you want?

I like the Music of my generation. THE 1950s MUSIC. I also like the BALLROOM MUSIC because I like to Dance.

Hello RayDuque3,

I like music, of course, but not to dance. I like Beatles Songs, I'm a Beatlemaniac... do you like Beatles?

I love music too as much as I love chess. In fact I can play the piano by ear. I love classics, the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. I collect lyrics and corresponding midi from the internet. Mozart music could probably improve your chess.

Hi Masegui & all, :-D
The subject of what one listens to while playing chess came up once. That seems to me one good way to tell something of the character & temperament of a player. Youngsters out there who like modern hip-hop and stuff probably also have 60 or 70 games going on at once and play fast time controls. They are looking to chess as a form of escapism. Something like the "weekend cowboy" who, after finishing his dull office or factory job, goes nuts bungee-jumping, skydiving or driving monster trucks. But on a smaller scale...with chess! Chessplayers are probably also involved in less-than-common pastimes like model railroading, rockhounding or butterfly-collecting or something.
When I'm in a thoughtful mood at the board I like suitable music. But it's usually a generational thing: At 46 years of age, I like 50's, 60's and 70's movie themes, but also modern lounge music like The Gentle People and Kruder & Dorfmeister. Sometimes I prefer to listen to, yes, the Beatles or Jim Morrison (the singing one!), especially when advancing up the board.

I like to listen to The Beatles because they have songs for every situation of the chess game:

When you're winning: GETTING BETTER or I FEEL FINE
When you're in trouble: HELP! or NO REPLY
When you're lost: NOWHERE MAN or ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE
When you know where to put your queen: HERE THERE AND EVERYWHERE
When you don't know: THERE'S A PLACE
When you're losing your queen: GET BACK, DON'T LET ME DOWN or YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE THAT GIRL
When you're playing a team match: WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS or ALL TOGETHER NOW
When you're playing a complicated game: ASK ME WHY or WHAT GOES ON
When you're playing a positional game: THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD
When you're gonna make a blunder: WHAT YOU'RE DOING? or YOU CAN'T DO THAT
After a short game: HELLO, GOODBYE
After a long game: I'M SO TIRED
After a draw: GIVE PEACE A CHANCE
After a defeat: I'M DOWN, MISERY or I'M A LOSER
After a Win: I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND or BACK IN USSR

and so on... if you know the songs you get it! :-(O)
