I resigned two games today (sigh). The first was to someone 200 points below me, and I lost 18 points. The second was to someone only 28 points below me, and I lost 17 points! I expected the first to be worse and the second not as bad as it was. What's the reasoning here? Thanks.

I didn't do the math by hand, but my guess is that the first game you lost less points because your rating was above 2100 (it was actually 2100 exactly). Once you are 2100 or more the formula is adjusted to reduce the points you earn or lose. This is explained in the USCF page about correspondence ratings. The link is in the about page.

Ah, thanks. Now that you've changed the ratings (to being more realistic), I don't think I'll ever have to worry about 2100 again.

Gostaria de saber o que houve já que sumiram 350 pontos de sábado para domingo em meus pontos. Estava com pouco mais de 2000 e agora estou com 1666. O que aconteceu? Se foi um ajuste, por que não ocorreu com todos?
