Miguel corrected the rating engine and applied it retroactively.
I understand the changes were made to plug some loopholes like provisional players getting abnormally high ratings on their first game.
The overall drop in all our ratings were a domino effect of those changes. If your previous high rating was a result of gaining points from highly-rated provisional players, then the drop in rating is large. At least that's how I understand the corrections Miguel put in place.
I also noticed that players with a lot of completed games are less susceptible to huge rating drops from the correction than players with less than 50 completed games.
