I would like to know what OBT is ?

I don't have any idea. Actually except my games I hardly venture into other things in this site. then recently I visited the forums and there when i was reading the messages I came accross this OBT. that's it. Please let me know if you have any idea.

OTB --> "On table" 
It means games played "at the time", "normal games" not postal ones like on this site.

yeah, thanks. but how does one play OBT ? i mean both have to be online and both of them must be free for some onehour or so. Is there any tournament of this kind ?

Well, on-line we have FICS and ICC. (for example).

http://www.chessclub.com/ (ICC)
On this sites you play "live"... And there is many tournaments...
