If I lose my first round game I wish to withdraw from a tournament. The director said she has no way to do this. She suggested I just resign. That is unfair to the rest of the field. My opponent gets a full point for the round without earning it. It also damages my rating. I should be able to not be paired for future rounds. How do I do that?

If you're not prepared to play out the entire tournament, you shouldn't enter tournaments on Queen Alice.
There are plenty of opponents who will play individual rated or unrated "Challenge" games against you.

I ENTERED THE TOURNAMENT BEFORE THE FIFTY GAME RULE WAS MADE. MAYBE NEW RULES SHOULD NOT APPLY TO GAMES ALREADAY STARTED.
I am still wondering the procedure for withdrawing from a tournament. There is plenty of over the board evidence that withdrawing from a swiss system tournament has minimal impact on the tournament.

Caps lock is just to the left of `A'.

richerby - That would have been easier than using the shift key.
Do you know how to withdraw from a tournament? Is my tournament director ignorant of the procedure for withdrawing a player or is it not possible to withdraw a player. Does the tournament director do the parings for each round? Does the tournament director do anything at all? Is the creator of a private tournament the director of a tournament?
