Score at 31/1:
*Before I get questions or comments, an explanation: luongo_0001 did vote on no.9. Koltanowski. I agree to add him to our list because of the following reasons:
George Koltonowski 1910 - 2007 Born in Antwerp, Belgium Became American citizen in 1944, after a lucky escape out of Europe, as he was jewish, by having been invited in a Cuban Tournament. He was one of the first 200 GM`s. In the 20, 30, 40 th. a top player who competed with Alekhine and Euwe, and won as well occasionally. Former President of the USCF after the Fischer boom in the States. Together with his best friend Max Euwe, FIDE president, did tremendous promotional and educational work in "that times" third world countries. He wrote 19.000 chess colomns, 54 years, for the San Francisco Chronicle. Beind most wellknown as a chess teacher for youngsters, for which he always made time availeble. He was World Champion Blindfolded Chess. And untill today, he still holds the record of simulteneous played blindfolded games; against 34 opponents, without one loss.
He liked to say to his pupils:
"Pawns are like buttons, loose to many and your pants fall down by themselves!"
