MikeDoherty, paraphrasing ICELAND's newest citizen, the inimitable Fischer, I will say this:
"I have no friends at the Chessboard." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Maybe you need to read some more of his comments courtesy of:
http://www.academicchess.com/ Focus/Fischer/Fischerquotes.shtml [pay real close attention to the #8 quote I have posted here for you]:
#1 "Chess is war over the board. The object is to crush the opponent's mind."
#2 "Chess is like war on a board."
#3 "I play honestly and I play to win. If I lose, I take my medicine."
#4 "That's what chess is all about. One day you give your opponent a lesson, the next day he gives you one."
#5 "If I win a tournament, I win it by myself. I do the playing. Nobody helps me."
#6 "If you don't win, it’s not a great tragedy - the worst that happens is that you lose a game."
#7 "Don't even mention losing to me. I an't stand to think of it."
#8 "I don't keep any close friends. I don't keep any secrets. I don't need friends. I just tell everybody everything, that's all." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - As for your "opionon" [sic] given as:
"....I think you should stop playing 1700 if you are 2200...then complain about not getting points... just my opionon [sic]...."
You are not reading what I am posting, obviously. I said: a) I am NOT complaining, b) this was a quirk of the system, c) I am here for the point I may [or may not] receive when I win, d) the rating points take care of themselves, and e) etc, f) yada, g) and-so-forth.
In short, a) because I issue challenges, b) I play only Black, and therefore, c) I have ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL over who takes on my challenges---get it!!!!!!!
Further, I don't CARE either. I just want to PLAY some Chess!!!!!!!

AA--NN--DD...more Ratings info
For those of the Queen Alice members that are so bored with "playing" Chess they may wish to study RATING SYSTEMS:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system http://www.fide.com/official/handbook.asp?level=B0210 http;//math.bu.edu/people/mg/ratings/approx/approx.html
For advanced study, try this URL: http://www.chessmetrics.com/CM2/Formulas.asp
For bibliography and background, we have URLs: http://chess.about.com/library/weekly/aa03a25.htm http://www.schaakbond.nl/rating/elopaper.html http://www.ratingtheory.com/ http://www.elhchess.demon.co.uk/ehss.htm
For EXTRA CREDIT, you are invited to view these URLS:

This is the Svenska schackdatorföreningen (SSDF) or also known as the Swedish Chess Computer Association.
And for all of the MALEs in Queen Alice that put the Pawns down long enough to fire-up ABC, CBS, ESPN, FOX, NBC, or UPN [yeah, I think I covered all of 'em 'cept cable and 'sat'---ha!], this URL is a lagniappe [IE a freebie!] for you:
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt04.htm
I am quite sure you will recognize the name of Jeff Sagarin.
Best to all, e2cp/Kay

Mike,
I have learned several things about citizens from the GREAT WHITE NORTH:
#1 most are VERY good people, and #2 the rest....
Short enough for you!
PS Which are you, a #1 or #2?!

You are absolutely off the wall...and thank you for stereotyping "canadians" as 1 and 2. I didnt know u could sum an entire countries civilization into into 2 numbers. All i have to say is this. Going into the forums looking for interesting discussion has become nearly impossible because u go into every thread and post your dramatically long winded responses which are usually hyper critical comments. It would be much appreciated if u could leave people to their own opinions and discussion without the dramatic posts.
P.S - I live in Canada
