Probably asking a stupid question here but why am I still provisional after 25 games?

It's not stupid. Everyone thinks or thought that, myself included.
You see, the page "About This Site" says at least in two places that it's 25 games, not 26 games.
For instance, regarding provisional players, it states:
| During the first 25 games played by a player, [...] |
As for established players, it says:
| For players that have played 25 or more games [...] |
Basically, in both occasions, it does seem that the actual number of completed rated games should be of 25 -- not 26 -- in order to become established.
Once you know it, you can do like me and spread knowledge

To further clarify, only "rated" games count. It's possible to play hundreds and remain provisional.
