As most chess players probably know, the best and most popular openings are the ones that directly attack the center of the board. A very good example is 1.e4 (Fischer called it "best by test"). When making such an opening you might feel very confident because it is indeed a very good move. If you were to open with a Ware(1.a4) or a Durkin(1.Na3) it would seem like risky business, but it could be really fun sometimes to be original and challenge the way others think by actually playing the so-called 'weird openings'. And if you have a good rating and you play an unusual opening it's like saying to your opponent "I'm still gonna beat you even with this shitty move."
Dunno if I'll ever visit Iceland. I'm not much of a traveler. But, I'm still young so I can not say for sure... Who knows what the future might bring.

In the opening, don't be disappointed that your opponent has wasted time and not played the best moves...take advantage of it! If you want to play nothing but the sharpest theory every move, play against a computer. As many people have said, even OTB people play crap, so your best bet is to rather than get ticked off when someone plays 1. b3 or 1. b4 or 1. g4 or whatever, is play the strongest replies and equalize right out of the opening.

You see, this opening gives white nothing...He is higher rated than his opponets and only got half point in this!Opening play like this is forbidden in chess school as white loses to much time with his Queen. Many Queen moves early in play is mostly bad..Sometimes myself forget this truth. If you look at my fabouylus game as black against PENTOTAL here on Alice you will see some early Queen moves by me and I got worser game and should have lose an my luck was the incredible end.. %-) WARNING FOR EARLY QUEEN MOVES! 8-)
